I watched this video and appreciated that the film was made in such a way as to protect the mother's privacy from public eyes, while still sharing the beauty of birth. It is a fine example for young women to view so that they can see that although birth is hardwork and powerful, it doesn't have to be overwhelmingly painful. I was even comfortable sharing the video with my little 3 yr old and 7 yr old daughters.
I loved hearing the mama vocalize and seeing her older baby running around during the birth. (All of the commotion of people in attendance would have personally been a bit bothersome to me. I can't stand peeple talking while I am in labor or doing much movement.) But how neat for this mama that she had the people who were important to her there, her husband, baby and mother. And kudos to the daddy for getting in the tub, even though it seemed a little after the fact! ;) (Some dad's wouldn't get in at all so yeah for him!)
I have watched a few birth videos and although everyone of them is special, this one had me dripping tears down my cheeks! I was sooo utterly moved, so completely empathetic to the mother's feelings of awe that a baby had just come out of her, and it was there in her arms, soft and downy and beautiful and so alive! This is my absolutley favorite moment of life. Nothing can compare.
These are a few thoughts from the mother:
After a bad experience with the hospital birth of our first daughter, we decided we would never again go to the hospital to have a baby. This is the birth experience of our second daughter, born at home, in water. I loved it! It was an absolutely amazing and beautiful experience!
This video sure makes me grateful for the internet. Oh, and I loved the music with this video... The first time ever I saw your face. How perfect!
